Frequently Asked Questions

No physical visits to admitted patients are permitted, however, we encourage virtual visits at any time. To facilitate this, patients have access to our free WIFI to make voice or video calls to their loved ones. In the event that a patient does not have a phone or device of their own, the hospital can provide a complementary one for use during their hospital stay.

Hospital billing only covers the hospitalisation itself. It excludes services such as:

  • Doctors
  • Anaesthetist
  • Radiology
  • Laboratories
  • Physiotherapists

These are all private enterprises that will bill you separately.

Most local and international medical aids and insurance covers are accepted by HealthPoint.  However some medical aids may restrict admission or incur a co-payment. Please contact us if you need more information or require assistance in obtaining authorisation from your medical aid.

Patients may be admitted to HealthPoint Hospitals either by being referred by their current physician with admitting rights, or coming through our Accident & Emergency department.

Pre-admission is a process that allows you to register prior to your admission date. Prior registration will reduce your wait time in our reception on the day of your procedure or admission. Pre-admission is done in person prior to the date of your procedure or admission. For pre-admission, you will need to provide a letter from your physician, personal identification, and your medical aid card(s). To complete the registration you will need to pay any applicable co-payments or deposits, and sign some paperwork.

Our kitchen provides freshly prepared meals cooked on-site by a dedicated team of chefs with menus designed to meet all dietary requirements. The varied menus are adapted to a wide range of diets from vegetarian to heart-healthy, low-in-sodium, diabetic, and gluten-free. We also provide specialised diets for different religious requirements.

Toiletries, like soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush. While the hospital may supply basic toiletries, these products may not be to your liking.

  • Nightwear e.g. Pyjamas, robe, and slippers.
  • All current medication and prescribed dosage of each in the original labelled container/packet.
  • A change of casual clothes to wear around the hospital or on discharge

Remember, though, that there is often very little storage space in a hospital room, so pack carefully.

Note: Do not bring excess money or valuables with you, the hospital cannot be held responsible if anything is lost or damaged.
